AEGEAN Santa Crew: AEGEAN's Christmas initiative for children and elderly people at 8 Greek destinations in cooperation with the Basil & Elise (B&E) Goulandris Foundation
Thursday, 28-12-2023
More than 140 AEGEAN employee-volunteers traveled simultaneously, on Tuesday 19 December, to 8 Greek destinations, in order to visit 17 institutions and facilities for child protection and elderly care. During their visits, the AEGEAN staff offered gifts and spent creative time with them by making Christmas decorations inspired by the Foundation's art collection.
The members of the "AEGEAN Santa Crew" visited the "Melissa" Orphanage for Girls and the Greek Children's Village "Filiro" in Thessaloniki, the "SOS Children's Villages", the "Palagia Primary School" and the "Ioakimio Ecclesiastical Nursing Home" in Alexandroupolis, the "SOS Children's Villages" and the Day Care Centre for the Elderly in Heraklion, the Ark of the World in Konitsa, as well as the Dementia Day Centre in Ioannina, the Orphanage and the Municipal Nursing Home in Corfu, the Dodecanese Child Protection Centre and the Charalampio Nursing Home in Rhodes, The Children, and Youth Protection Annex, as well as the Municipal Nursing Home in Chania, the Creative Employment Centre and the Care Centre for the Elderly in Chios. The visits took place under the guidance of the educational team of the Basil & Elise Goulandris Foundation, and the Thallo program of the seveneleven organization for people 60+ and people with Mild Cognitive Impairment and carried out interactive Christmas activities aimed at entertaining and transferring the festive spirit to young and old alike.
The gifts were curated by the members of AEGEAN's volunteer team a few days before the trip. Each gift was prepared with love and contained personalized wishes and messages. This is the third consecutive year that AEGEAN employees have implemented the specific initiative, aiming to spread a message of love and joy, giving at the same time children and elderly people the opportunity to express themselves through art.
This action could not have become a reality without the participation and support of the people working within the above facilities, who embraced this special initiative of AEGEAN from the very beginning.
The date has been rescheduled for next year.
