"AEGEAN Santa Crew": AEGEAN employees-volunteers sent a message of offering and solidarity this Christmas

Monday, 23-12-2024

Schools in Karpathos, Kasos, Ikaria, Skyros, and Kastellorizo were visited, the previous days, by AEGEAN and Olympic Air volunteers-employees, and crews, who offered gifts and exchanged wishes.

For the 4th consecutive year, AEGEAN, with its voluntary team "AEGEAN Santa Crew," shared the Christmas spirit, spreading smiles to students in schools of remote islands and offering help to families in need in Athens.

Specifically, on December 19, 2024, volunteers and crews from AEGEAN and Olympic Air traveled early in the morning with three aircraft to Karpathos, Kasos, Ikaria, Skyros, and Kastellorizo, bringing gifts, smiles, and surprises to students. Volunteers from all departments visited schools on the remote islands to distribute gifts to the young students and support the needs of each school by providing equipment, heating oil, literary books, STEM kits, and more. Also, captains and cabin crews from Olympic Air were present and spoke to the children about the joy of the profession and aviation, answered their questions, and invited them aboard the company’s aircraft to experience the travel experience.

Earlier, in the same week, members of the "AEGEAN Santa Crew" visited the Reception and Solidarity Center of the Municipality of Athens (K.Y.A.D.A.) and the Multi-purpose Homeless Center, offering Christmas treats to 300 families living in poverty and to 200 individuals facing homelessness, sharing moments of warmth and joy.

"We are very happy that our volunteers were able to visit schools on the remote islands and share moments of love and joy with children. The warm reception from the young students, teachers, and local authorities was incredibly heartwarming, turning every stop into a celebration of hope and optimism. Similarly, the feelings we received while offering support to those in need or experiencing homelessness were deeply moving," said Marina Spyridaki, Corporate Affairs Manager AEGEAN, about this initiative. She added, "For 25 years, AEGEAN, with the strength provided by the trust of our passengers and the culture of our people, has been committed to supporting local communities, children, and those in need."

AEGEAN warmly thanks the schools, school principals, teaching staff, and the parent associations on the islands they visited for their excellent cooperation, as well as K.Y.A.D.A. for supporting the initiative.
