AEGEAN collaborates with the Laboratory of Clinical Virology of the Medical School of the University of Crete, to perform a regular preventive COVID-19 testing program, for cabin crew and employees

Having as absolute priority the health and safety of passengers and employees, AEGEAN collaborates with the Laboratory of Clinical Virology of the Medical School of the University of Crete, one of the designated COVID-19 Reference Laboratories in Greece, to perform the regular preventive molecular COVID-19 testing program for cabin crew, that has already initiated. Sampling will take place at the bases of AEGEAN in Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion, while the program has already been extended to a number of employees of other operations as well. 

This initiative by AEGEAN, aims at further enhancing the health and safety of passengers and crew and is part of the additional precautionary measures already taken by the company for the new, adapted travel experience during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Laboratory of Clinical Virology of the Medical School of the University of Crete is a specialized Laboratory in Greece for the investigation of viral infections in patients and Public Health. If features modern units for the laboratory diagnosis of viruses in a wide range of human samples. Equipped with fully automated systems and analyzers, and staffed with personnel specialized in cutting-edge technologies, the Laboratory has the ability to perform more than 2,500 molecular tests and 10,000 antibody tests per day.
