By connecting Thessaloniki to 16 international destinations, AEGEAN contributes to the increase of the region’s tourist traffic

Kifisia, 6 August 2014 – AEGEAN’s international passenger traffic had a significant increase of 11% at the airport of Thessaloniki in the period of June-July 2014, reaching a number of 159,945 passengers from 144,288 in the same period in 2013.

This increase in traffic is mainly the result of the expansion of Thessaloniki’s international network by including new destinations.

In 2014 AEGEAN has connected Thessaloniki to 16 international destinations, thus making a significant contribution to increasing tourist traffic in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece in general. In particular, thanks to AEGEAN, Thessaloniki is connected throughout the summer season to 8 German cities (Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hanover, Cologne, Nuremberg, Stuttgart), Larnaca, Tel Aviv, Yerevan, and to traditional destinations such as Paris and Brussels. Also, for the first time the city of Thessaloniki is connected to three Russian destinations (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov).

In regards to the seven-month period from January to July, AEGEAN's total international passenger traffic at the airport of Thessaloniki presented an increase of 6%, reaching a number of 426,046 passengers, which are 24,330 more than the total number of passengers in the corresponding period in 2013.
