It is exceptionally important to mention that as a result of the lower fare policy for the first time in the last 5 years, the increasing trend concerns domestic traffic as well, giving a 19% boost for the month of June and for the whole year.  Simultaneously, in the international market, the company increased in June its operations from all Greek bases by 23%.

A very positive development is the steady recovery of Athens, which showed an increase of 22% in international traffic in June. The passenger traffic rise is attributed to the launch of new destinations, such as Zurich, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Birmingham, Hamburg, Marseille, Nantes, Catania, Abu Dhabi, Beirut, Amman, Izmir, and Smyrna, as well as to the traffic rise in traditional destinations. At the same time, the bases of Heraklion, Thessaloniki and Rhodes showed an increase by 47%, 11% and 22% respectively in June.

Mr. Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of AEGEAN and Olympic Air stated: “The development of the network with 17 new destinations, as well as the frequent and improved internal connections are now beginning to operate in a positive light, especially for the Athens base. Similarly, the development strategy of the 7 other Greek hubs are also equally successful.

Continuing the momentum recorded in the first half of 2014, AEGEAN will allocate 13,000,000 seats on its flights to 87 international destinations in 32 countries and 33 domestic destinations from 8 Greek bases.
