Kifissia, Thursday, June 6, 2013 – AEGEAN once again demonstrates its commitment to supporting the wider Greek region and more generally to boosting tourism with two new routes connecting Heraklion in Crete to Istanbul and Athens to Cairo.

Beginning on June 13, 2013, AEGEAN will be linking the Heraklion "N. Kazantzakis” International Airport with the Istanbul “Ataturk” International Airport with twice-weekly flights, every Thursday and Sunday. At the same time, beginning October 3, 2013, every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday, flights will depart from Athens "Eleftherios Venizelos” International Airport for the Cairo International Airport and vice versa.

The flights on the above routes will operate with the 168-seat AIRBUS A320 aircraft, with its comfortably configured cabin in both Economy and Business Class.

AEGEAN launches its new direct Heraklion-Istanbul route, starting in just one week, by offering 3,000 tickets in the coming days at 59 euros including taxes.

More than 30 new international routes have been added to the AEGEAN network in 2013, for a total of 158 regular and charter international flights. These services originate from the Company’s 8 aircraft hubs (Athens, Thessaloniki, Heraklion, Rhodes, Corfu, Kos, Kalamata, Larnaca).

The CEO of AEGEAN, Mr. D. Gerogiannis, noted: "We continue to invest in extroversion, taking initiatives for the development of tourism and the regions of Greece. Today we are announcing two major new additions to our schedules. The seasonal connection between Heraklion and Istanbul is an especially positive development, as it will contribute effectively to strengthening tourism and trade relations between the largest tourist destination in Greece, Crete, and the significant and growing market of Turkey. At the same time, we are returning to the Egyptian market and again connecting Athens and Cairo after a two year hiatus."
