Discover Skyros with Aegean – 20,000 seats from just €9

Thursday, 21-06-2012

In a bid to acquaint the travelling public with the breathtakingly beautiful island of Skyros, AEGEAN is offering 20,000 tickets for all flights to and from the island, at a total charge of €9 for a one-way ticket from Skyros to Athens, and €19 for a one-way ticket to Skyros from Athens International Airport.

Following a meeting today with Mr. Miltiadis Hatziyiannakis, Mayor of Skyros, AEGEAN CEO Dimitris Gerogiannis announced: ‘We wish to banish the crisis from Skyros, a beautiful island on one of the so-called ‘barren lines’ (PSO) utilizing state assistance and the fact that these lines enjoy special tax status. In 2011 there were just 2,235 air passengers on the Athens-Skyros route. This year we hope to see ten times that number, no fewer than 25,000 travellers, visiting the island with AEGEAN and succumbing to its many charms’.

The offer is valid for all available seats on all flights between 21/06/2012 and 31/12/2012, provided that tickets are purchased by 31/07/2012. Fares include all taxes and the applicable internet service fee per passenger for tickets purchased through www.aegeanair.com.  Ticket changes are not permitted and in case of ticket cancellation the fare is non-refundable.

Aegean has drawn up a special plan to help visitors explore this beautiful island. You can use the TOP10 application on Facebook to see the best locations on the island, as photographed by ordinary travellers. And from the beginning of July the AEGEAN Facebook page will be dedicated to Skyros, highlighting a new reason to visit the island each day.

Skyros is located in the Northern Sporades. One of the most beautiful of all the Greek islands, it has a centuries-old history and has played an important part in the life of the nation. There are many beautiful landscapes and enchanting locations to enjoy, from the island’s main town, Hora or Horio, to delightful villages like Pefkos, Atsitsa, Magazia or Molos.  You can find out more about the island at www.skyros.gr.
