Madrid, Spain, 9 December 2009.Aegean Airlines, the largest Greek carrier and Amadeus, a global provider of technology and distribution solutions to the travel and tourism industry, today announce a 10 year IT partnership. Aegean Airlines will adopt the full Amadeus Altéa Customer Management and e-commerce suite of solutions. This will allow Aegean Airlines to manage all reservations, inventory and departure control from a single, new generation technology platform. Aegean Airlines will also adopt the Amadeus e-commerce suite of solutions to drive online sales alongside their existing e-commerce systems.
“By choosing Amadeus as our technology partner for the next 10 years, we are selecting a very robust and technologically advanced platform for passenger services. This will help to underpin our drive to further improve our technological infrastructure and service to out customers” commented Dimitris Gerogiannis, Managing Director of Aegean Airlines.
The airline’s phased migration process to the new platform is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2010. Once deployed, Aegean Airlines’ customer management functions will be based on a future-proof platform which will set solid basis for future growth.
“Adopting Amadeus Altéa platform, Aegean Airlines has the certainty that their customer management system is robust enough to support their future growth and that it allows the airline to focus on delivering new initiatives and developing partnerships with other airlines” commented Julia Sattel, Vice President of Airline IT at Amadeus.
The adoption of Altéa will facilitate Aegean Airline’s operations and will help in the planned integration into the Star Alliance. The Altéa platform is the technology behind the Star Alliance Common IT Platform (CITP).
“We are delighted that Aegean Airlines has selected the Star Alliance Common IT Platform as this strengthens our members’ ability to greatly improve time to market, reduce costs of ongoing development work and enables a seamless service offering across our global network. It is also an important step forward for the overall project and proves that we are following the correct strategy with the aim of better serving the traveller,” commented Dave Gregori, Star Alliance Director Common IT Platform
Aegean Airlines joins the big family of Altéa users, with some 130 airlines which use the Altéa Reservation module and with over 90 airlines that have opted for the full Altéa CMS suite
