Passenger Traffic for 2007

Aegean Airlines reports a significant rise in passenger traffic for 2007, attributed to further network expansion and the initiation of its fleet renewal investment programme. More specifically, passenger traffic rose by 18% to 5,226,163 passengers carried on 54,685 flights. At the same time, passengers per flight rose to 96 from 93 in 2006 period. It is worth mentioning that Aegean Airlines captures a market share of 25% in Athens International Airport, where 65 airlines perform flights.

In more detail, domestic traffic increased by 10% with Aegean Airlines carrying 3,355,962 passengers. International traffic rose by 35%, reaching 1,870,201 passengers, reflecting efforts for further international network expansion.

During 2007, Aegean Airlines introduced new direct flights from Athens to Frankfurt and Munich, code-shared with Lufthansa, doubled its frequencies to Milan whilst it also enhanced frequencies to Sofia and Bucharest.

For 2008, the company aims at accelerating its re-fleeting process and at further expanding its network by adding new domestic and international destinations, which are set to be announced shortly.
