Aegean Airlines reports a 10% rise in passenger traffic for the first quarter of 2008

Aegean Airlines reports a healthy rise in passenger traffic for the first quarter of 2008, carrying 1,062,202 passengers, 10% more compared to last year, on 11,601 flights. At the same time, passengers per flight rose by 4% to 92 from 88 in 2007 period.

In more detail, domestic traffic increased by 1%, despite the fact that total domestic flights were lower than last year’s, with Aegean Airlines carrying 705,483 passengers from 700,587 in 2007. International traffic rose by 35%, reaching 356,719 passengers.

Aiming at further expanding its network AEGEAN has recently announced new destinations for 2008. As of May 15 AEGEAN adds Athens-London route with two daily flights whilst as of May 2 AEGEAN initiates Athens-Tirana route with one daily flight. The company already operates Athens-Limnos route as of March 30 and is due to open Athens-Kefalonia route as of May 2, 2008.
