The first brand-new Airbus A320 has arrived

AEGEAN AIRLINES, the most rapidly growing Greek airline, has recently received its first AIRBUS A320.The aircraft took off from Airbus’ base in Toulouse landed in Athens International on 14.20 hours, February 22,2007.
AEGEAN upped its order to a total of 19 new Airbus aircrafts, maintaining the option for an additional 8. Two of those 19 will be a321s with capacity of 200 passengers, allowing the company to reach new destinations from as early as 2008.The purchase of these 19 airplanes comprises a massive 800 million US$ investment that will be completed over the next three years. According to the delivery schedule, 3 a320 aircraft will be delivered in 2007, 10 in 2008 (8 A320s and 2 A321s)and 6 more in 2009. There is an option for the purchase of an additional 8 A320/A321 and 2010.After the completion of this deal AEGEAN will officially own and operate the youngest fleet in Southeastern Europe.
The new planes will replace older aircraft in AEGEAN’s fleet, and will be the cornerstone of the company’s expansion towards new destinations in Greece and abroad, flying from its bases in Athens and Thessaloniki.
