New destinations Sofia - Samos
Monday, 27-02-2006
AEGEAN AIRLINES continues its dynamic course by adding new Greek and International destinations and continuously increasing transport capacity and flown passengers.
With the start of its summer season, AEGEAN AIRLINES will launch flights to Sofia and add a second daily flight to Munich. Samos will join the network at the end of May.
In support of the growing efforts of Greek businesses to penetrate the markets of Eastern Europe, AEGEAN will expand into the Balkans by connecting Athens to Sofia with a daily flight. The schedule is designed to serve both business travelers, as well as passengers traveling to Sofia for tourism and recreation. At the same time, AEGEAN continues to seek government permission to add flights to other Balkan destinations like Istanbul and Bucharest and is also interested in Cairo in North Africa.
Further adding to its Greek network, AEGEAN will connect Athens to Samos with two daily flights, starting on May 30, 2006. Passengers will travel with four-engined AVRO RJ100 jets, on flights designed to offer convenient connections to other Greek destinations. With the addition of Samos, AEGEAN now covers 97% of all possible airline travel needs within Greece.
MORE FLIGHTS TO MUNICH TO OFFER MORE WORLDWIDE CONNECTIONS
Beginning on March 26, AEGEAN will add a second daily flight to Munich from Athens and Thessaloniki. Passengers from Northern Greece will have the choice of a trip to Munich with a same-day return. The Munich flights are optimized to offer worldwide connections through the new Terminal 2 at Munich Airport with LUFTHANSA. AEGEAN is the only airline offering two daily flights from Thessaloniki to one of the three largest hubs in Europe.
In addition, the flight to Frankfurt and the flights from Heraklion, Rhodes and Larnaca through Thessaloniki now offer convenient connections to LUFTHANSA destinations in Germany, Europe as well as transatlantic destinations. AEGEAN, through its cooperation with Lufthansa, connects Northern Greece through code-shared flights with Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Hamburg, Hanover, and Berlin through Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart. It also offers connections to 187 destinations in 79 countries.
By extending its cooperation with Italy's AIR ONE, AEGEAN proves it is the best choice of travel for Italy, as it offers the largest selection of Italian destinations. From June 3rd 2006 to October 1st 2006 AEGEAN will offer an additional flight to Rome on Saturdays and Sundays, as a marketing carrier. From August 1st to August 31st the additional flight will become daily. Also, from June 3rd to October 1st there will be two weekly non-stop flights to Naples. A Boeing 737 of AIR ONE will carry out these flights.
