AEGEAN AIRLINES, the most dynamic airline in Greece, is proud to announce the successful completion of the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) inspection that took place in June 2005.
AEGEAN demonstrated to the team of accredited auditors that it complies with all the high standards managed by IATA (International Air Transport Association) in relation to operational management and control of the safety systems within the IOSA project: one of the highest standards in the world for airline operational safety.
The audit, performed by a team of seven people, verified the ability of AEGEAN to deliver efficiency and a safe operation: in particular attention was paid to the Corporate Organisation and Management Systems, the Flight Operations area, the Operational Control and Flight dispatch area, the Aircraft Engineering and Maintenance area, the Aircraft Ground Handling area, the Cargo Operations area, the Operational Security areas and all other areas correlated to these Company departments.
With AEGEAN achieving IOSA Registration, it positively positions itself amongst the world leading airlines, demonstrating that it provides an operation that can deliver operational safety and efficiency.
Mr. Theodoros Vassilakis, President and Managing Director of AEGEAN AIRLINES emphasized on the positive result of the inspection: "We are very satisfied that AEGEAN achieved IOSA Registration and very proud to have demonstrated that AEGEAN operates according to the most stringent standards in the industry."
To date, IATA has conducted 140 IOSA audits since the programme was launched in 2003, and there are currently 88 airlines on the Registry. (www.iata.org/registry). The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Programme is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
