Passenger traffic rises over 13 percent in first half 2005

Aegean Airlines has shown dynamic growth in the first six months of 2005, having carried 1,851,963 passengers achieving thus an increase of 13.3% in passengers uplift against the same period of 2004.
To be specific, on the domestic network, Aegean Airlines carried in the same period 1,301,245 passengers achieving a growth of 5.9% as against the same period last year.
The company's performance on international flights, where competition is tougher and competitors more, is even more impressive. In the first six months of 2005 passengers carried to/from international destinations on scheduled and charter flights were totally, 550,718, indicating an increase of 35.7% as against the same period of 2004. Aegean covers three out of the five most important international destinations from Greece apart from the domestic market.
After its successful development abroad, the company is planning an expansion to more international destinations, adding to its network direct flights from Athens to Istanbul and Sofia from November, 1st. Aegean will start a code-sharing agreement with Germany's Lufthansa from October 30, under which the companies offer trips under shared flight numbers.
