First Aegean and Lufthansa code-share flights take off.

Aegean Airlines and Lufthansa German Airlines launched their first code share flights today at "Eleftherios Venizelos" Airport. The Airbus A321 operated by Lufthansa left Athens at 13:35 h for Frankfurt with joint flight numbers LH 3381 and A3 1831. Fifteen minutes later the Boeing 737-400 operated by Aegean Airlines took off for Thessaloniki and Frankfurt carrying the joint flight numbers A3 530 and LH 5960 from Athens, and LH 5929 from Thessaloniki.

More than 350 passengers and other guests celebrated the event at Gates B14 and B15 at Athens International Airport, where both airplanes have been parked side by side. Mr. Theodoros Vassilakis, Chairman and Managing Director of Aegean Airlines, emphasized the great advantages the passengers of Aegean Airlines will receive: "We are very proud of giving our passengers the opportunity to combine Aegean services with the high quality service, the experience and the state-of-the-art technology of Lufthansa German Airlines".
Michael Suesser, Lufthansa General Manager Greece and Cyprus expressed his confidence in the strategic cooperation of both airlines. "We are very pleased about this cooperation and happy that we have found a strong and reliable partner in Aegean Airlines" he stated. "For our today's inauguration code-share flight A3 530 / LH 5960 / LH 5929 we have prepared a little surprise to our joint passengers", he added. "Our Greek Lufthansa colleague Mrs. Alexandra Michalakis will join the Aegean Airlines team on board and assist them in service".

In total 82 daily flights within Greece and additional flights to Munich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Brussels, Larnaca, Hanover, Berlin, Hamburg and Paris will be operated as code-share flights. Apart from joint flight numbers, timetables have been coordinated in order to ensure seamless travel and comfortable connections between flights of both airlines. Starting today passengers can earn and redeem miles on both frequent flyer programs. Furthermore Business Class passengers have now access to the Lufthansa lounges as well as to Aegean lounges. With immediate effect passengers can also check-through until their final destinations on all Aegean and Lufthansa flights.
