Dynamic growth 25,3% passenger traffic increase, both domestic and international

On completion of its 6th financial year in the year 2004, Aegean Airlines continue on its dynamic growth both in passenger and revenue numbers as well as in network size.
In the year 2004, specifically, AEGEAN succeeded in a passenger’s carried growth of 25,3%, reaching, thus, 3.576.588 passengers while the number of flights increased by 20 percent to over 46 thousand. Additional routes were launched and scheduled network covered 31 different routes in Greece and other courtries.
During the past two years, Aegean has contributed 65 percent of the passenger growth at the new Athens International Airport (AIA), making Aegean the dominant traffic development force in Athens.
In the domestic market AEGEAN shows a growth of 25,1 pct against the year 2003, reaching thus 2.567.746 passengers. It is worthy to be mentioned that the company’s share in the Agents’ productivity (BSP) increased to 53 pct from the 2003 51 pct.
It is further, notable, that the company succeeded in increasing its international passengers who reached 1.008.842, an increase of 26 pct. With the addition of Larnaca as of June 2004 AEGEAN cover three out of the five most important international destinations from Greece apart from the domestic market. It is worthy noting that during the last two months of 2004 Aegean succeeded in the increase of its market share in Cyprus market to 30%.
It is should also be stressed that the company continues to offer a considerably higher reliability degree on On-time departures, higher from the other 67 carriers operating out of Athens International Airport average.
President and Managing Director Theodore Vassilakis said: “Despite the continuing adverse competitive environment, Aegean is going to post increased profits of over 8 million Euros for 2004, a 25 percent increase compared to 2003. We will continue to invest in quality, innovation, reliability and safety. We will continue to offer high quality services at affordable prices”.
