Aegean Airlines - Air One, agreement

AEGEAN AIRLINES and AIR ONE have signed an agreement for a commercial cooperation and code sharing on selected flights of their networks. With this cooperation AEGEAN AIRLINES and AIR ONE extend their network and strengthen their presence in the Italian market, offering in the same time, multiple choices to their passengers.

Based on this agreement, AEGEAN becomes capable of serving 5 domestic Italian points, which will connect with their Rome flights. Aegean passengers will be able to fly from/to Torino, Genova, Venice, Milano (Linate) and Palermo on AIR ONE connecting flights. On the other hand, AIR ONE passengers will be able to fly on the twice daily AEGEAN flights Rome-Athens-Rome with AEGEAN AIRLINES marked as the carrier. The first joint flights will commence on September 15th 2003.

The AEGEAN passengers, who will originate from or terminate at domestic Italian points on code-shared flights will have to check-in at the AIR ONE Rome Fiumicino counters and all the other domestic Italian airports. Correspondingly, AIR ONE passengers, to and from Athens will have to show up at the AEGEAN check-in counters in Athens and Rome. On flight announcement boards of the airports, both flight-codes will be indicated while all airport announcements will mention both the code-share and code-sharing airline.

AIR ONE (AP) is the second largest airline in Italy. Its network includes 20 domestic Italian destinations, while it operates more than 1,000 scheduled weekly flights. It operates, in the same time, summer charter flights to various European destinations. The AIR ONE fleet consists of 30 BOEING 737 aircraft of the 300. 400 and 800 series. The main base of AIR ONE is Rome Fiumicino airport, while a secondary one is at Milan, Linate. AIR ONE maintains a strategic cooperation with LUFTHANSA in the Italian market. Almost all AIR ONE flights are code-shared with LUFTHANSA, while all LUFTHANSA flights from Frankfurt and Munich to Italy are code-shared with AIR ONE. Code-shared are, also, with Air Littoral for France and Air Canada to Canada.
