AEGEAN Airlines continues its long-term strategy by investing in new markets, quality and innovative services. For this winter season, Aegean has redesigned its flights schedule and focused its attention on linking its domestic and international destinations. Particular emphasis has been placed on connecting points in Greece with Germany.
From October 29, 2002 Aegean will launch two new non-stop routes from Athens to Dusseldorf and Stutgart. Each service will be operated twice weekly in combination with the existing highly successful daily Athens-Dusseldorf and Athens-Stuttgart services via Thessaloniki and Kavala. In addition, the new winter schedule continues to link Heraklion with Munich via Thessaloniki twice weekly as in the summer season, while Heraklion is now also connected to both Dusseldorf and Stuttgart with a brief stop-over in Athens. AEGEAN also continues to operate the four weekly Rhodes-Rome link with a short step in Athens. All of the above connections are operated without changing aircraft at the connecting point thus maximizing passenger convenience.
Aegean Airlines President and Managing Director, Mr. Theodoros Vassilakis said:
"We firmly believe that these moves are the first substantial efforts to develop winter tourism in Greece and to expand the tourist season".
For the success of the venture Aegean has cooperated closely with a number of the best Hotels in Crete that will remain open during the winter months, while some of the largest German Tour Operators are also supporting them.
