November 2016 - Tribute to Thessaloniki
Once again, this month we bring all of Greece closer together, offering unique traditional flavours and images of beauty from all over Greece on our aircrafts. November takes us north, to beautiful Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece.
So join us and get acquainted with a city that combines a world of different flavours, nightlife and endless strolls. Thessaloniki is the ideal destination for those who love a good time, excellent food, history and culture, as it is a city with centuries of history and rich in culture.
The White Tower, Nea Paralia (the New Seafront), Aristotelous Square, and the Rotunda are but a few of the landmarks that win over every visitor to this city; combined with its unique colours, aromas and traditional flavours, Thessaloniki will make a lasting impression on you!
Throughout November, we will bring you a little closer to the flavours, aromas and images of Thessaloniki so that you can become even better acquainted with it. Your journey starts, as it does every month, from our lounges, filled with the scent of your beloved tsoureki (a sweet brioche-like loaf) – plain or with various fillings – and classic bougatsa with cheese or cream (sweet and savoury pastries), as well as Pastry Shells. Naturally, our lounge buffets would not be complete without Thessaloniki koulouri (sesame seed bread rings) sandwiches.
A video dedicated to Thessaloniki will be playing on our flights, giving you a short tour of the beautiful sights of the city, and introducing its own unique culture and rich heritage, taking you on walks through the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Monuments found throughout the city and on a sumptuous culinary journey.
If you are travelling with us this month, you will have the opportunity to sample this cuisine, as our flight staff will offer all Economy Class passengers mini-tulumbas (syrup sweets), Constantinople-style Cardamom and tsoureki-rolls. Business Class passengers will have the opportunity, as they do every month, to pick between two further local creations, such as Goumenissa-style veal with quince and apple served with aubergine, cornel cherry and chestnut mash, Mount Athos sea bream with a cream of malagouzia wine and onions on sautéed wild greens and herbs, and octopus roasted in tsipouro, all accompanied by a Refosco 2011 (Adam Wines).
Fasten your seatbelt because our journey in the city that never sleeps has just begun!
