July 2016 - Tribute to Samos, Lemnos & Ikaria

We want to bring you closer to Greece and we dedicate each month to one or more Greek destinations by filling our flights with beautiful images, familiar aromas and beloved flavors.

This July we will “take you on a trip” around Northeast Aegean as we “travel” to three beloved islands, Samos, Lemnos and Ikaria in order to discover together their beauties and local products.

In our business lounges, you will be offered several sweet treats, such as lemon spoon sweet, fig spoon sweet, Rinio's spoon sweet, as well as strawberry jam and cranberry-orange jam from Samos. As for cheese lovers, we have prepared fresh sandwiches with “kalathaki” soft, brined cheese and “melichloro” cheese, which are both traditionally produced on the island of Lemnos. “Samos Anthemis” wine will also be served at our buffet.

All of you flying with us throughout July will have the chance to watch onboard a documentary video dedicated to these three islands, presenting their hidden beauties, prettiest villages, hospitable residents and local viands.

Our economy class passengers will have the chance to taste traditional bread rolls with “kalathaki” and “melichloro” cheese from beautiful Lemnos as well as "phoenix" cookies from Ikaria. Moreover, you could choose between ”Limnio” dry red wine and “Aroma” Muscat of Lemnos from the Cooperative Association of Lemnos.

The passengers of business class will have an extra choice in their menu, based on traditional recipes, such as rooster ragout with “Limnio” wine and locally homemade pasta or fruits of the Ikaria sea with Samos wine sauce and local special vegetables. You can also taste “Samos Anthemis” Muscat Blanc wine.

We are looking forward to welcoming you onboard to “take you on a trip” around the beauties of Samos, Lemnos and Ikaria and offer you a taste of their delicacies!

Samos, Lemnos & Ikaria

Published 30 June 2016

Charming and unexplored, the islands of the northeastern part of the Aegean Sea will offer you unique travel experiences. The most ancient city of Europe, Lemnos, with the untouched sandy beaches and its mythical beauty, Samos of Pythagoras with its blue-green waters and the local wine full with unmitigated aromas, and the eternal Ikaria with its wild nature, the traditional fairs ("panygiria") and the very slow rhythms of the locals, will lure the visitor into sceneries and flavors of an old magnificent and magical era.
