February 2017 - Tribute to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace

This month too we are bringing Greece even closer, offering wonderful traditional flavours and beautiful images from the whole of Greece on all our aircraft. For our special February dedication, we will visit Northern Greece! Eastern Macedonia and Thrace are waiting to be discovered on our flights!

Drama, Kavala, Xanthi, Rodopi, Evros, Thassos and Samothrace are washed by the sea, but also famed for their beautiful mountain ranges. In this part of Greece, you will also find many biotopes clustered together and protected by NATURA 2000. In short, it is the most ideal spot in the country for nature lovers.

Vistonida, Mt Falakros, Pangaio, the Evros Delta, the mountainous islands of Thassos and Samothrace, the forests of Rodopi, the ports of Kavala and Alexandroupolis await to be discovered through our special dedication this month.

As every month, the journey will begin in our lounges in Athens, Thessaloniki and Larnaka, which will be filled with the aromas of Northern Greece. Pepper chutney, "Inouta" grapemust pie and chocolate bites with cheese from the Ethnological Museum of Thrace along with a mini sandwich with demi-sec salami, Papadopoulos cold cuts and mozzarella from Xanthi and a platter of cheese with "Zarzavatsaki" chevre and  "Zarzavatsaki" mozzarella from cow’s milk (18%), non-salted are ready to take you on a taste journey to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

All those travelling in Economy Class will be able to try the Chrysanthides chocolate kourabie shortbread, while Business Class passengers have another two options: Veal stew from Kiskeki in the region of Alexandroupolis on cous-cous and baked cabbage with tomato and red pepper spice, as well as shrimps and mussels from the Silivria area of Thrace with asparagus and wild rice. Just as every month, there will be an additional wine choice, which for the February special dedication is a Merlot 2013/2014 from the Estate Chatzigeorgiou.
