October 2016 - Tribute to Cyclades

This month, we are continuing to bring you closer to Greece by offering special traditional tastes on our flights and sharing beautiful images of Greece's unique locations.

The Cyclades magically draw us closer for a look at: The gleaming white houses cascading from the hilltops to the sea, the towns with the hidden lanes, the local flavours and customs, the people inspired by the light of the Greek sun and the beaches bathed in Aegean blue. Your journey to the Cyclades has just begun!

With sacred Delos at the epicentre, a trip to the Cyclades begins with Kea and Kythnos for nearby day trips, Andros and its maritime heritage, the hidden beauty of Tinos and the neighbouring but distinctive Sifnos and Serifos. It continues to the elegant capital of Syros, exuberant Naxos, youthful Paros and its sibling Antiparos, cosmopolitan Mykonos and romantic Santorini, lunar Milos with stark white Kimolos at its side, and ends with the alternative little Cyclades: Amorgos, with its breathtaking views, unusual Ios and the small but gorgeous Sikinos, Anafi and Folegandros.

The Cyclades island complex has it all and is the ultimate destination with something for everyone.

And this October, we are bringing you a little closer to the renowned Cyclades, even if your final destination is not among this cluster of islands. You can start your journey in our lounges, which offer a taste of the Aegean and the Cyclades with “San Michalis” cheese sandwiches, Naxos “arseniko” cheese and citrus liqueur, soft “kopanisti” cheese spread from Mykonos and Tinos, Santorini “fava” dip, almond sweets from Mykonos, “Nissos” beer and “Karamolegos 2015” vintage wine from Santorini.

The trip continues on the screen inside our aircraft with specially produced videos that tell you more about the beautiful islands of the Aegean. You can imagine swimming in the crystal blue waters and visit important cultural heritage sites as you get a taste of Cycladic cuisine, both virtually and literally. Our cabin crew will be serving Tinos almond sweets and savoury Milos cookies to all Economy Class passengers, while those travelling Business Class will have a chance to enjoy two additional taste treats: glazed chicken thighs with Andros honey, Naxos potatoes, Sifnos “krasotyri” cheese and chickpeas, and “kolochtypa” with Cyclades shrimp with sun-dried tomatoes, red shrimp sauce, “matsata” pasta and “kritamo” greens (sea fennel).

Enjoy our virtual tour of the Cyclades and perhaps your next trip will take you to the heart of the Aegean!
